Perfect refreshing drink for a hot summer afternoon!
Homemade lemonade is easy to make or you can simply use a store bought lemonade.
Strawberry & Basil Lemonade
3/4 cup sugar
1 cup water
8-10 lemons, juiced (1 cup)
3 1/2 cups water
7 strawberries, sliced
8 fresh basil leaves, chiffonaded*
Start by making a simple syrup – In a small saucepan heat the sugar and 1 cup of water until dissolved. Remove and let cool.
In a large pitcher add the simple syrup, lemon juice and water. You can adjust to your taste by adding more sugar for a sweeter version or add more water to make less tart.
Next, add the strawberries, basil and lemon slices. Pour over ice and serve.
* Chiffonade is a cooking technique in which herbs or leafy green vegetables are cut into long, thin strips. This is generally accomplished by stacking leaves, rolling them tightly then cutting across the rolled leaves with a sharp knife, producing fine ribbons.
